This practice is great for runners. I recently took up running and was inspired by my own need for a releasing practice of all the tight hip, hamstring, and back muscles that get sore after a lot of running. Of course, this practice will benefit anyone with stiff and sore muscles. This one is just particularly good for runners.

This practice will specifically help work and open your hips. We tend to hold a lot of tension in our hips whether it be physical or emotional. A yoga practice with hip opening asanas can really provide the opportunity for some release. As always, make modifications especially at the start and go deeper in the postures when your body let's you know you are ready.

Sun Salutations are a great way to establish a daily yoga practice. In this video, Ron and I practice the Sun Salutations together so that we can offer variations to how the asanas are done. This makes the flow available to everyone. In addition to being a great daily physical practice, Sun Salutations can also be a form of expression like dance or prayer. Try this practice every day and see how you feel.

After trying this practice every day for even a week, let me know what you experience. Is it a great physical practice? Did you experience it as a form of prayer? Was it challenging or did you find it easy? To leave me a comment, click here. The Lord's Prayer can be recited beautifully while practicing the Sun Salutation. The act of praying while moving is very powerful and brings deeper meaning to both the prayer and the movement. Even if you are not used to or comfortable with the Lord's Prayer, you can replace this prayer with any words that speak to you.

I'd love to know how you feel after trying this practice. How did it compare to doing the Sun Salutation alone? Please share your comments with me. To leave me a comment, click here. Pranayama or breath practice is just as important as an asana or posture practice. It's a wonderful idea to begin incorporating pranayama into your home practice. In this video I walk you through the practice of Nadi Shodhana or Alternate Nostril Breathing. It's very relaxing and creates a very peaceful and quiet mind. I encourage you to explore the benefits of breathing mindfully and this particular pranayam is a wonderful place to begin.

This time I'm sharing a Chair Yoga practice. There are many benefits to practicing in a chair. For one thing it's a space saver and it also provides some variety to your practice. But it is also a great way to begin a yoga practice especially if you are uncomfortable moving onto the floor or if you are recovering from an injury or illness. Chair yoga will also teach us how to modify traditional yoga postures so that we can practice our yoga anywhere including the office or an airport or even in our living room. I encourage you to try it once even if you are used to practicing postures from a mat and it's just possible that you will learn something new about your body and be able to expand on your own practice.

Can you see the benefits of practicing yoga from a chiar? Do you see how this kind of practice can come in handy when out of your traditional practice space? To leave me a comment, click here. And if you want to be one of the first to get new videos as I put them up on YouTube "subscribe" to my channel while you are there.

"After only a a few times I am more balanced and flexible I can move further and actually let go of the chair. This is my stepping stone to get back in shape. Am also finding a sense of calm I have never had before. I hope to be doing your regular yoga sessions soon. I am forever grateful for your help!´╗┐"

This video contains a gentle 5 minute practice. It can be used on those days when you are short of time because it is a complete practice just as it is. However, this series of postures can also be a foundation with which to build on to create your own personal home practice. Once you learn and feel comfortable with these postures, you can add to it. One day you might do a longer warm up or add cool down stretches at the end. On the days your are feeling very strong you can add standing postures your body is asking for or even explore inversions or backbends. The intention is for this video to be a core practice that you build on as you continue on your journey of creating your own personal home practice.

Can you see yourself doing this practice everyday? Can you imagine creating your own practice from this core series of postures? To leave me a comment, click here. And if you want to be one of the first to get new videos as I put them up on YouTube "subscribe" to my channel while you are there.

This time rather than sharing a specific flow I'd like to share with you the importance of setting an intention and dediction before every practice whether it be at home or in the studio. It's a wonderful habit to get into because it can greatly increase the benefits in your practice.

Can you imagine taking a few extra moments before a practice to set an intention and dedication? I encourage you to try it and see how it changes your practice. This video is truly from my heart. It's actually the first bit of footage that I began recording as I ventured into this virtual journey. The passion and inspiration I felt for Snatam Kaur's song "Heart of the Universe" motivated me to get in front of the camera. Try this practice yourself and see what you become motivated to do.

Two other versions with no verbal cueing.

I would love to hear your comments and experiences after having done this practice. Or you might even be moved to share something simply by watching the video before even practicing it. Either way, I want to hear from you. To leave a comment, click here. I'm away for the summer so thanks for the videos. I try to follow them and do at least a little bit each day. It's nice to hear your familiar voice guiding me through the moves."
"The virtual yoga videos have really been a great aid in motivating me to continue my practice on the days when I'm not in the studio. I am able to pause them if I wish to repeat or give further attention to a particular position. I just set up my laptop and listen to Krista's voice while enjoying the morning sunshine and wildlife around the lake in my backyard. They are great."
